Product Description

Product Description

Cyclohexylamine (CHA) is a primary aliphatic amine with the molecular formula C₆H₁₃N.

It is commonly used as a chemical intermediate and as a neutralizing amine in suitable steam condensate treatment formulations.

In boiler systems, Cyclohexylamine helps neutralize carbonic acid formed when dissolved carbon dioxide enters the steam condensate system. This helps maintain condensate pH and reduce acid-related corrosion in compatible steam distribution and condensate return lines.

Cyclohexylamine is used for cellulose acetate and rubber accelerator, sweetening agent. Cyclohexylamine is mainly used for producing (Beet) molasses, cyclone, amide, nylon 6.

Application & Usage

C 2810 (OTTO) Cyclohexylamine, 99% Cas 108-91-8 - used as an intermediate in synthesis of other organic compounds. It is the precursor to sulfenamide-based reagents used as accelerators for vulcanization.

Remarks / Precautions

Cyclohexylamine for Marine Boiler Treatment

Marine steam systems require suitable chemical treatment to reduce corrosion and maintain reliable operation.

Cyclohexylamine is one of the neutralizing amines that may be used in formulated marine condensate treatment chemicals.

RXSOL marine boiler treatment products are intended to help control common boiler and condensate problems, including:

  • Acidic condensate corrosion

  • Scale formation

  • Dissolved oxygen corrosion

  • Improper alkalinity

  • Sludge deposition

  • Steam and condensate system deterioration

Cyclohexylamine selection and dosage should be based on the complete boiler treatment programme, not simply on product concentration.

Handling & Safety Precautions

Cyclohexylamine is a flammable and corrosive chemical and requires appropriate industrial handling precautions.

  • Avoid inhalation of vapours.

  • Prevent contact with skin and eyes.

  • Use chemical-resistant gloves, protective clothing and suitable eye/face protection.

  • Provide adequate ventilation.

  • Keep away from heat, sparks, flames and ignition sources.

  • Store in suitable, tightly closed containers.

  • Keep separate from incompatible chemicals, including strong acids and oxidizing agents.

  • Follow the current Safety Data Sheet (SDS).

Important: Cyclohexylamine is hazardous and must not be handled as an ordinary, low-risk boiler additive. Steam applications involving food contact or other regulated uses require additional approval and compliance checks.

Notes

Major Industrial Applications

1. Boiler Water Treatment & Condensate Corrosion Control

Cyclohexylamine is used in selected boiler condensate treatment formulations as a volatile neutralizing amine.

During steam generation, dissolved carbon dioxide can enter the steam and form carbonic acid upon condensation.

This may reduce condensate pH and contribute to corrosion in steam lines and condensate return systems.

Cyclohexylamine helps neutralize this acidity and maintain appropriate condensate pH.

Applications include:

  • Industrial steam boilers

  • Steam condensate return systems

  • Marine boiler treatment formulations

  • Steam distribution pipelines

  • Power plant condensate treatment

  • Industrial process steam systems

Cyclohexylamine is normally applied as part of a properly designed treatment programme rather than added without dosage control. Its suitability must be checked against boiler pressure, steam use, condensate chemistry and applicable regulations.

2. Corrosion Inhibitor Manufacturing

Cyclohexylamine is used in certain corrosion inhibitor formulations, including neutralizing amine systems and some vapor-phase corrosion inhibitor chemistries.

It can help maintain alkaline conditions and contribute to corrosion-control formulations for compatible metal systems.

3. Rubber Chemical Manufacturing

Cyclohexylamine is an important intermediate in the production of certain rubber-processing chemicals and vulcanization accelerators.

These chemicals are used in rubber manufacturing processes for products such as tyres, belts, hoses and industrial rubber components.

4. Chemical Intermediate

Cyclohexylamine is used as a raw material in the synthesis of various organic compounds and specialty chemicals.

Applications include manufacturing intermediates for agricultural chemicals, specialty formulations and industrial chemical processes.

5. Industrial pH Adjustment

Due to its alkaline nature, Cyclohexylamine can be used in selected industrial formulations requiring pH adjustment or acid neutralization.

Air and moisture sensitive. Incompatible with strong oxidizing agents, carbon dioxide, sodium hypochlorite, organic acids, mineral acids and peroxides.
