Texanol Ester Alcohol
RXSOL-19-6649-050Ester alcohol provides the highest level of film integrity at low levels of coalescent, enhancing the performance properties of the paint
Product Description
Ester Alcohol – Product Description
Ester Alcohol is a high-purity, multifunctional solvent and coalescing agent developed for use in waterborne coatings, paints, emulsions and specialty industrial formulations. It provides excellent coalescing efficiency and promotes uniform film formation, helping improve the surface finish, gloss, durability and overall performance of the finished coating.
Its balanced evaporation profile and relatively low volatility allow polymer particles to coalesce effectively during the drying process, producing a smooth, continuous and consistent film. Ester Alcohol is particularly suitable for architectural and industrial coating formulations where good application characteristics and reliable film development are required.
Ester Alcohol demonstrates good compatibility with a variety of polymer emulsions, resins and formulation ingredients, making it useful across a broad range of water-based systems. Its high boiling point, low vapor pressure and limited water solubility contribute to controlled evaporation and consistent performance under varying application conditions.
Application & Usage
Applications

Notes
Principal Function
In waterborne coatings, Ester Alcohol functions primarily as a coalescing aid. During drying, it temporarily softens polymer particles and facilitates their fusion into a continuous film. This can improve film integrity, leveling, appearance and resistance properties, particularly when coatings are applied under challenging temperature or humidity conditions.
