Argon Gas (Pure) is considered a rare atmospheric gas which is colorless, odorless, tasteless and nontoxic. It is considered extremely inert and forms no known chemical compounds. Argon is slightly soluble in water. It is very inert under most of the conditions even in high temperatures. It constitutes approximately of 1% of air by volume and occurs naturally in the earths atmosphere. In its liquid state at atmospheric pressure, it is very cold at -183 ˚C. One volume of liquid Argon gives approximately 800 volumes of gas at ambient conditions. Argon is principally shipped and used in gaseous form for neon signs, lasers, incandescent and fluorescent lamps, electronic tubes, window insulation, welding, and semiconductor applications.
-Inert to all materials at all temperatures and pressures.
-Heavier than air, argon will collect in low-lying areas, ducts and drains.
-An asphyxiant (does not support life).
-Lower thermal conductivity than most other gases.
